KNITTING IS FOR PUSSIES

Camouflage knit-works themed exhibition ” Knitting is for Pus****” by artist Olek will be held in Christopher Henry Gallery, 127 Elizabeth Street,NYC (View Map ) from September 9th – October 17th, 2010. With mixed media sculptural environment on ground floor, and art collaborations on the first.









About the Artist:
Born Agata Oleksiak in Poland, Olek rediscovered her ability to crochet while settle down in her her Brooklyn studio and since then she has started her crocheted journey/madness by using hundreds of miles of crocheted, weaved, recycled materials to create the wild and occasionally wearable structures of her fantasylands.

Olek’s work has been presented in galleries from Brooklyn to Istanbul to Venice and Brazil, featured in “The New York Times”, “Fiberarts Magazine”, “The Village Voice”, and “Washington Post” and drags a tail of dance performance sets and costumes too numerous to mention.
Also, Olek was an artist in an independent collective exhibition, “Waterways,” during the 49th Venice Biennale. She was also a featured artist in “Two Continents Beyond,” at the 9th International Istanbul Biennale.
