Building on a traditional Tigerstripe base, maharishi’s DPM: Tigerstripe Murale nods toward camouflage of the Vietnam war era.
Rather than opting for common rotary printing techniques, Maharishi utilise hand screen printing. This method allows for manipulation of the pattern – resulting in dense and sparse variants reminiscent of late 60’s Tigerstripe camouflage.
The pattern also incorporates notions of cracked and weathered African terrain, caused by the arid and harsh climatic conditions across the continent – further reinforcing the natural roots of camouflage.
